That extra-special assignment handed in
Well, the kid's parents contacted the school this morning and asked me to call them. They admitted to helping, but only insofar as correcting his spelling and grammar.

My principal says I have to accept the work; that we are always telling parents they have to help, and when they do, we have to accept it.

Shrug.

That's life.

I still met with the kid at lunchtime and had him write several sentences for me. It matches the one on the book report, though not the one of the pre-Christmas test. Which brings up questions of its own.

Well, I did my best.

Life goes on.
